About Us
Our Story
Medic Launchpad was born - like many good ideas in medicine - over a coffee in a busy hospital canteen. Between ward rounds and bleeps, we, Dr. Nathan Dean and Dr. Ahmad Almohtadi, reflected on our journeys into medicine: the challenges, opportunities, and the importance of thinking ahead.
We shared a drive - not only to become skilled, compassionate doctors but to build well-rounded, fulfilling, future-proof careers. We recognised how much we benefited from starting early - building strong portfolios and learning how to stand out in competitive environments. But we also knew that many students, both in the UK and internationally, don’t always have that support early enough.
That conversation led to action. We founded Medic Launchpad to guide the next generation of doctors through the application process into top UK medical schools. By developing the mindset to train and think like a doctor from day one, we believe students will succeed in preparing their portfolios, acing the UCAT and interviews, and laying the foundations to a successful career as a doctor.
Our Doctors
Dr. Ahmad Almohtadi
I studied the International Baccalaureate at an international school before earning one of the few highly competitive places available to international students at UK medical schools. Studying at St George’s University of London, the case-based learning approach shaped my own teaching style - interactive, practical, and clinically focused.
I’ve built my career in London, completing my Foundation Programme here and ranked top nationally for the UK Residency Programme. Now working across leading London hospitals, I am pursuing a career in cardiology, with multiple research publications and national conference presentations.
I’ve spent several years helping students succeed in their medical school applications, drawing on my own experience and insights as both a mentor and an MMI interviewer. Through Medic Launchpad, I’m passionate about helping aspiring doctors - especially international students - navigate the journey to medical school with confidence and clarity.
Dr. Nathan Dean

I'm a Cambridge-trained doctor with a passion for medical education and mentorship. I graduated with a First Class degree in Medicine from the University of Cambridge in 2021, where I also taught undergraduate students in weekly supervisions for three years, specialising in neurology and psychiatry. These small group sessions honed my ability to break down complex topics using first principles and to make learning interactive, engaging, and deeply effective.
After Cambridge, I completed my foundation training in Leeds and now work as a resident doctor in London, gaining experience across a range of high-volume generalist and specialist hospitals. Every day, I see how the right foundation in medical training makes a difference; not just for passing exams, but for building the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to thrive in a challenging but incredibly rewarding profession.
Beyond medicine, I’m a firm believer in balance. I rowed during university, have completed several marathons and even an Ironman triathlon. I bring that same discipline and determination to everything I do, including supporting the next generation of future doctors.
Our Methods
At Medic Launchpad, we believe you should train like a doctor from day one. Our teaching is grounded in evidence-based methods used across UK medical schools, designed not just to prepare students for interviews and entrance exams, but to help them think, reason, and learn like future clinicians. We use a first principles approach, as taught at Oxford and Cambridge, to build deep, lasting understanding rather than surface-level memorisation.
Our sessions are highly interactive, structured around case-based discussions that mirror real-life clinical scenarios - just like the bedside teaching you'll receive on the wards. This style not only makes learning more engaging and practical, but also develops the problem-solving and communication skills that are essential for each step of your medical school application.
By training early in this way, students build the mindset, confidence, and depth of understanding that shines through in every stage of the application process - from personal statements to acing the UCAT and interviews - and lays the foundation for a successful career in medicine.
